Former Wilson Center Scholar Named Next Korean Minister of Unification

Ryoo Kihl-Jae, former Wilson Center Public Policy Scholar and long-time partner of the North Korea International Documentation Project, was nominated as the next Minister of Unification of the Republic of Korea by President-elect Park Geun-hye. Ryoo is credited for having formulated Park Geun-hye's concept of "trustpolitik," or engaging North Korea but standing firm against any further provocations.

Ryoo is a Professor at the University of North Korean Studies, Seoul, and a well-known expert on North Korea. He is frequently quoted in the international media聽on developments in North Korea. Ryoo has most recently been cited in聽The New York Times, The Boston Globe, Time,聽补苍诲听The Washington Post.

Ryoo was a Public Policy Scholar at 澳门六合彩 in 2007 and again from August 2010 through July 2011. He has regularly participated in and contributed to events and conferences hosted by the North Korea International Documentation Project since 2005.
