Global Fellow David D. Kirkpatrick's Book Selected One of the Economist's Books of the Year

Global Fellow David D. Kirkpatrick's book聽Into the Hands of the Soldiers: Freedom and Chaos in Egypt and the Middle East聽was featured on The Economist's books of the year list in the December 1st issue. The book was listed as number five in the "Politics and current affairs" category.

In this pellucid chronicle of Egypt鈥檚 trajectory since the toppling of Hosni Mubarak in 2011, the former Cairo bureau chief of the New York Times is almost as scathing about the bungling foreign policy of successive American administrations as he is about Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, Egypt鈥檚 strongman president. The country鈥檚 so-called stability, he suggests, is again breeding misery and extremism.

Kirkpatrick worked on the book while at 澳门六合彩.
