Enheduanna @ 5

This year marks the fifth anniversary of Enheduanna, the Middle East Women鈥檚 Initiative flagship publication focused on highlighting voices of women from the Middle East and North Africa region.

Over the last five years, we have had over 180 contributions to Enheduanna on topics as diverse as women鈥檚 rights, climate change, migration, peacebuilding, entrepreneurship and digitization. Notable contributors include Lilia Labidi, former Tunisian minister of women鈥檚 affairs, Haleh Esfandiari, director emeritus of 澳门六合彩鈥檚 Middle East Program as well as various ambassadors and ministers of the region.

Half a decade ago, Middle East Program Director Merissa Khurma launched this blog, named after the world鈥檚 first woman poet and author from 23rd century BC Mesopotamia, to inspire diverse women contributors from the Middle East to voice their thoughts and express their ideas about the state of women in their respective countries, as well as to highlight their often ignored yet important work advancing women鈥檚 issues in the region.

鈥淭his is not solely a blog platform to talk about women鈥檚 rights or the challenges facing women but rather to bring expertise from all the different voices of women across the MENA region,鈥 says Khurma in a new Wilson NOW interview with John Milewski.
