Fernando Reinares, Class of 2015

Former Global Fellow and Public Policy Scholar Fernando Reinares's book Al-Qaeda's Revenge: The 2004 Madrid Train Bombings聽was recently reviewed in the January/February 2018 issue of . The review, written by Princeton Professor Andrew Moravcsik, states that聽Al Qaeda's Revenge聽is a "must-read for counterterrorism authorities and concerned citizens alike." The book聽tells the story of 鈥3/11鈥濃攖he March 11, 2004, bombings of commuter trains in Madrid.听Fernando Reinares鈥檚 account draws on judicial, police, and intelligence documents to which he had privileged access, as well as on personal interviews with officials in Spain and elsewhere. Fernando Reinares聽is director of the Program on Global Terrorism at the Elcano Royal Institute, as well as professor of political science and security studies at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, both in Madrid. He coedited, with Bruce Hoffman,聽The Evolution of the Global Terrorist Threat: From 9/11 to Osama bin Laden鈥檚 Death. He聽is also adjunct professor at Georgetown University and American University in Washington, D.C.
