Overview

On September 23rd, the Colombian peace process took a major step toward a final accord when negotiators from the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) reached agreement on transitional justice, an issue that had bogged the talks down for over a year. The two sides also announced a six-month deadline for concluding a final agreement; together the steps were hailed by Secretary of State John Kerry as 鈥渉istoric.鈥澛燬ince his appointment by President Obama last February, Special Envoy for the Colombian Peace Process Bernard Aronson has played a key role in helping the Parties build consensus at the negotiating table. He will reflect on the current and future U.S. role in building peace in Colombia.聽厂辫别补办别谤听The Honorable Bernard AronsonU.S. Special Envoy to the Colombian Peace Process聽ModeratorCynthia J.
