To examine the role of the international community in shaping Latin America鈥檚 environmental agenda, 澳门六合彩鈥檚 Latin American Program and its Brazil Institute, Environmental Change and Security Program, China Environment Forum, and Global Europe Program launched a collaborative research project last year, Latin America鈥檚 Environmental Policies in Global Perspective. Through a series of papers written by experts representing diverse perspectives, the project explores how environmental challenges in Latin America increasingly condition the region鈥檚 most important diplomatic and economic relationships, and how those relationships in turn impact conditions on the ground.

Jewellord Nem Singh, a senior lecturer and assistant professor of development at the International Institute of Social Studies at Erasmus University Rotterdam, studies the role of critical minerals in the global energy transition, including important environmental and social considerations. In his new article, Mining Our Way Out of the Climate Change Conundrum: The Power of a Social Justice Perspective, he writes: 鈥淭he tide is shifting away from fossil fuel dependency in favor of clean technologies. However, an uncritical embrace of clean technology may also lead to greater inequalities and uneven development.鈥
