Gender Equality and Health Equity Through Foreign Policy: A Progress Report
In this edition ofWilson Center NOW,we are joined by Valerie Percival, Associate Professor at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA) at Carleton University and a Commissioner with the Lancet-SIGHT Commission on Peace, Justice, and Gender Equality for Healthy Societies.She is also a fellow with ϲ’s Maternal Health Initiative and Canada Institute.Percival discusses her project at the Center titled “Promoting Gender Equality and Health Equity through Foreign Policy: Panacea or Fool’s Game?” The project argues that improvements in gender equality and health equity place societies on pathways to peace and provide for more stable and less corrupt governments.

MHI explores a wide range of policy-related topics, including gender equity, global health, health care workforce and systems, caregiving, gender-based violence, workforce participation, girls’ education, and sexual and reproductive health and rights.
